What do coffee filters and steel wool have in common?
You can use both with our Duel Open-Slotted Tip-End. We won’t go on about this, but it has been reported that you can clean gun barrel bores with wool scrubbers made from stainless steel, copper or bronze. This we have not tried and therefore don’t recommend. However, we do know it works with using some other common household goods.
Substitutes for patches and mops can be made from cotton or microfiber rags and even by cutting up coffee filters (this we have tested and it works pretty darn well). And yes, this is not a joke, whatever you decide to use in a pinch, make sure it doesn’t shed material microfilament strands or metal fibers, flecks or metal dust into your gun parts.
One never knows when they may find themselves needing a clean gun but have run out of traditional store-bought cleaning products and need to improvise. So make yourself a strong cup of your favorite coffee and start cleaning. We here at Full Blast Gear like to think of this as “good old American ingenuity and survival, baby.”
